Scheduling Policies
The following policies apply to private swim lessons.
After you register for lessons, your instructor will contact you by phone to schedule your lesson set. For our initial batch of registrations, instructors begin contacting parents in May.
To ensure that our instructors have availability for your lesson set, please be prepared to schedule your ENTIRE set of 6 lessons when the instructor contacts you to schedule.
Swim lessons are scheduled at mutually agreeable times for the instructor and parent/student. Because our instructors are usually teaching several different students, reschedules are usually not possible or allowed except in extenuating circumstances with advance notice.
"Reschedule For Convenience" Policy:
We allow ONE parent-initiated reschedule "for convenience" with at least 24 hours' notice to the instructor.
Student Illness:
If your child is sick, please communicate this to the instructor as soon as possible before the lesson so it can be rescheduled. We are not able to accommodate no-shows due to illness if it is not communicated to the instructor in advance of the absence.
Inclement Weather:
If there is inclement weather in the area which is likely to prevent the lesson from taking place at the scheduled time, the instructor will call you as soon as possible with arrangements. The pools cannot open in lightning, thunder, or hard rain.
Any missed lessons without prior notice to the instructor or without approval from the swim instructor or supervisor may be forfeited.

More Information
While swim lesson registration opens on April 1 of each year, swim lessons take place in the summer months when the water becomes warmer. Warmer water is more comfortable for students to learn to swim.
Instructors begin contacting parents/students in May to schedule the lesson sets. Instruction can begin as early as mid-May. Instructors call parents/students in the order that we receive the registration.
Each lesson set includes 6 thirty-minute lessons. Students should plan to schedule 2-3 lessons per week so the entire lesson set is completed in no more than 3 weeks. This allows us to reinforce technique and make progress with the student. Additional lesson sets can be purchased on our website if the student would like additional instruction.
After we receive your registration and an instructor is assigned, you'll arrange lessons directly with the instructor based on your mutual availability. Instructors can offer a variety of times, including before-hours lessons at some locations. Lessons do not take place during swim meets, on holidays, or on Friday/Saturday evenings.
Our instructors are seasonal employees, and most pool hours move to reduced schedules beginning in August. That means all lessons must be completed by the start of August.
Refund Policies
Refunds are not available for any unused lesson sets. Any refunds issued would be at the discretion of the management of SELA Aquatics.
We want parents to be satisfied with their child's lessons. If a parent has a concern about an instructor or lessons, we need the parent to contact the instructor's supervisor to discuss.
Registration Policies
Age
All swim lesson students must be at least 3 years old by the time lessons begin.
Membership
At some facilities, a membership is required in order to book lessons. Please refer to the registration page for the facility's policies.
Once we have reached capacity for lessons, registration will temporarily close. If we are able to accommodate more students, registration will reopen. All new registrations will close by mid-July.
Registration & Location Policy
All lessons must register through our website. Instructors are not allowed to accept payment directly from students/parents to schedule lessons or extra lessons.
Lessons may only be conducted at the facility for which you registered. Instructors are not allowed to go to private homes or any other facility to conduct lessons.
